The Course

Laid out over a century ago, Helen’s Bay Golf Course is a beautiful parkland course nestling on a gentle hill at the mouth of Belfast Lough. Combining mature trees planted by the Club’s first patron, the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava, with beautifully maintained fairways and small, protected greens kept in absolutely superb condition, the course offers golfers a challenging yet entertaining test of their game.

“Best conditioned course – Helen’s Bay”

Spread over nine-holes the course is bordered by mature woodland, country park and unspoilt beach and combines 18 diverse and different length tee positions to great effect offering a varied and interesting eighteen hole round.

As well as great golf, the course offers stunning views over Belfast Lough to the Antrim Plateau, Irish Sea and Galloway coast. On a clear day Ailsa Craig the rocky island forty six miles away, just off the coast of Scotland at Turnberry, comes clearly into view.

“Best Bunkering – Helen’s Bay”

Some courses only reward big drives – others reward accuracy. Helen’s Bay is a true test of straight hitting, shot planning and short game accuracy. This course is an honest golf challenge that is easy on the feet and brings a smile to the face, even when your score isn’t quite as good as you had hoped.

Social golfers and higher handicappers aren’t visually intimidated by the course and enjoy the fun of the challenge in beautiful surroundings.

“Best Scorecard – Helen’s Bay”

Low handicappers, visiting PGA pros & international squad golfers have all noted that Helen’s Bay is the perfect course to tighten-up your straight drives and “scoring shot” skills around our true running greens, closely protected by 66 bunkers over 18 holes.

We know you will love the course!

We have taken the decision to close the entire clubhouse including the locker rooms and the golf course with immediate effect until further notice. We realise that golf is one of the safer pastimes but also feel that this is the only avenue open to us at present. We hope you as members will comply with this. Flags and tee markers etc will be removed
